How to Take Wash Impression for Full Denture

  1. Prepare the Denture

    • Ensure the tissue side is clean and dry. Trim any over-extended areas if necessary.

    • Apply adhesive to intaglio

  2. Apply Impression Material

    • Mix a low-viscosity (wash) impression material and evenly coat the tissue-bearing surface of the denture.

  3. Insert Denture

    • Place the denture in the patient’s mouth and have them gently close into their normal bite.

  4. Border Molding

    • Guide the patient through movements (e.g., smile, pucker, move tongue) to capture the full extent of the borders.

  5. Allow to Set

    • Let the impression material fully set without disturbing the denture.

  6. Remove and Inspect

    • Carefully remove the denture, check for accuracy, and ensure all tissue areas and borders are properly captured.

  7. Disinfect

    • Disinfect the impression before sending it to the lab.
